Sea Days 2

Wednesday 2nd October (Day 10)
Sea Day

Not a lot to report today as it was a lovely sea day.

We nearly won the trivia.

I took Juan Diego out to lunch - in the main dinning room.

Had a swim and a spa.

Tonight was formal night – and shock horror – I wore a dress!!!!!!!!

And the fabled ‘Oil Cans’ of Fosters are real. This guy drinks five a day and one at dinner.   Good effort!

Thursday 3rd October (Day 11)
Sea Day.

Ahhh.  Another relaxing day.

We didn’t even come close in the trivia today!

Watched the officers play guests in water volleyball.  Of course the guests had to win but Juan Diego was a champion.

Then I went to a ‘vegetable carving demo'. Wow.  They were good.  So fast. With knives like scalpels – little paring knives but SO sharp. They would pick up a capsicum, slash his hands around a few limes like in a comedy- then would pull apart two half capsicums with perfectly shaped geometric cuts.

I have decided that I will have an Alcohol Free Day on the 4th October. And will also fast until the morning of the 5th October.  That should be good for the body.

I convinced the others that this is a great idea. We all agreed.

Off to bed now to begin the AFD and food fast.  The 5th October could be a long way away.

Saturday 5th October
Sea Day

So I did it.
On a cruise ship and not a bite of food or a sip of alcohol on the 4th of October. Total AFD and food fast.  How good am I???

(Crossing the date line and losing a day is not so bad!)

Last night there was an awesome change – a cold front with a 5-6 metre swell. Decks were closed.

Suddenly we have gone from humid weather in the high 30’s a lovely 15 degrees. And better sized waves.  Howling wind is such fun up on deck! You have to lean into it to walk.  The sun worshippers are not happy – including poor Suzanne.

I have never seen the pool empty!

Or the deck chairs tied up!

We almost won Trivia today – damn you one question!

A swim in the slopping pool was fun. I was the only one in and so many people in the elevators told me I was mad!

These were the sweetest kids.  We have seen them all over the ship. Today I was behind them in line at the salad bar.  The boy is 6yo.

He walks up and says in a clear voice,
"Hello, could I please have some rocket, and some iceberg. Thanks.
And some tiny tomatoes and a bit of roast pepper.
And a bog scoop of croutons. Thanks
And a few prawns thanks, and some carrot. Thanks"
And on it went until he said
"Just some olive oil and a bit of Balsamic thanks.
Thank you"

Legend.  His sister was as good.   There is hope for the world!

Dave won the pool tournament.

Yet another fun day.

Sunday 6th Oct.
Sea Day

Today was a fun day.

Bridge tour was awesome. (as usual) this time it was lead by 1st mate and was fun.  We got to hear the ‘Elephant Ears’ a sound system they they turn on in heavy fog. It amplifies noises and listens for fog horns. I asked if it was the “Oh Shit! Alarm” but he laughed and showed how it shows an a cross reference grid where the sound is coming from.

Lost trivia – but did well.

Went to a serviette folding demo. The things those guys can make with a serviette is awesome.

Had a farewell lunch for Leanne (our adopted daughter) as she is getting off tomorrow to start her six month discovery of Aust and NZ.

We crossed the 180 degree parallel and are now in the eastern hemisphere. Looked for the red dotted line but couldn’t see it.

So on this trip I have been in ALL FOUR HEMISPHERES!!!!!

Had the

Concierge Lounge Karaoke Night. Was a fun night with me drinking many Cosmos.  We sang a few songs and entertained well.

This guy - Ron for Carpentry services was awesome.

This is a video of him.

ANDY - click on the grey arrow just below the red line to hear Ron sing.

The Captain's son had his first birthday the day we crossed the equator.

And of course we sang a few songs.

A huge group of staff came and sang a Sea Shanty to us.

Another awesome day.  Sea days are fun!!!!!!

NOW GO TO THE NEXT TAB - NZ.
