Last Days

Well.  I don't think last nights waves were 5 metres!!!

It certainly was a wild night! Firstly there was the door bell ringing and phone calls until about 1 am. At one stage I jumped up and answered the phone "This is the voice mail of Raina and Suzanne. Please leave a message after the beep- BEEEEEEP".

Well...I could hear Sue and Vivian almost have a heart attack at that. Their drunk little minds didn't know how to cope.  Funny

I knew that we had hit a huge cold front. How?  By the pain of my sinus. They always alert me to a barometric change.  And the pain told me it was a big change. The ship was rocking and rolling. Things were creaking and banging.  At about 3 am it got very wild. the wardrobe doors kept swinging open and crashing. Draws were swinging in and out. There is a huge curtain that cuts our very large room into two. It's about 3.5 meters long and has a massive amount of fabric in it. It would whoosh across the room one way then back the other. Backward and forwards it went.

I opened the sliding doors to the balcony about 30mm and stuck my nose out. The gush of air that rushed out would have sent a child flying.  It ripped the cabin door to the passage way open and all the cupboard doors flew open - again.  I got a huge splash in my face AND it was salty!!!! Up on the 10th deck!!!!!
It kept up like this until 5am. The captain announced later that the wind was classified as "Strong Gale Force winds!" He didn't announce the true height of the waves for fear of people getting scared - but it felt bigger that the time I experienced 10 meter swell in the same place.

Juan Diego said he was thrown from his (skinny bunk) bed twice and that he was "a bit afraid".

The Windjammer this morning looked like this.....

Glad wrap shelf holders. Genius!

There is a family on board from Qatar. They are a Princess and a Shiek and their three kids and entourage.  When they boarded they had over 100 pieces of luggage - and have gone mad in every port shopping.  They walked down to the on board shop the other day and bought 15 Tag Heuger watches!!!  To get all of their luggage off in time on Friday, the loaders have had to start loading it into the 'cages' today and are taking it down into the hold.

And Yes, they have kept Juan Diego VERY busy!

So....back to the Suzanne verses the rest battles.  When the door blew open last night in came crashing a new door decoration. 'They' had collected about 20 drink cans and with string rigged up a big 'blob' of cans and tied it up to swing in and get Suzanne early in the morning. It all came blowing into the room so I had to rig it up again. I couldn't be the one to ruin the surprise.

They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Dave went to a huge amount of effort (involving Juan Diego) and produced this document and put it on the door for Suzanne.

Revenge - A dish best served cold.
This is how Dave and Vivian got back at Suzanne for her early morning pranks.

They then rushed down to be in prime position to watch Suzanne "give it to" Customer Services.

And dish it out she did.

Then they confessed.

We all had a lovely spa then retired for Nanna Naps.
The sea is still too rough for the pools to be refilled.

One of the officers came and had a few drinks with us tonight. This is "Shifty". We named him that at the Lair's Club the other night and are making it stick.  Funny. Lovely guy.  He is the head of Environmental Services and is from Norway!

A huge flock of birds - about 100, flew along side us today for about an hour.  They rode the thermals about a metre above the waves and flap their wings every few minutes. So efficient.  Then a big hawk/eagle joined in.  Don't know if they caught anything.
We went to dinner at Giovannies. OMG the food is so good.

Thursday 10th Oct (day 17)

Slept in.

Lost Trivia - Again!

All went to lunch and Sue Jordan ate about 18 meals.

Had a spa and a swim.  Once again I was the only one in the pool.

Tried to pack all of my stuff into two suitcases - that was a challenge. But I did it!!!!  Have no idea we will manage to lift them into the hire car.

We went down to Customer Services so Suzanne had a chance to be nice to the people that dealt with the $15,000 over draw.  She tells me she was not so nice to them at the time!!!!!

Concierge Lounge was a fun night.  The Captain came up to say goodbye.  Marcus (his kid) and his wife, Mum and Dad go home tomorrow.

Dave and Trevor/Keith have bear masks that they got in Yosemite Park and had photos with the Captain.

We all had a great night and I drank a Cognac!!! Well half a Cognac - cause it tastes like poison!!!!

But I did discover a luscious new drink - Lemon Drops!  Take note Crackers, Sarah and Celia!!!!

And then the sad part of the cruise.  Putting the luggage out before midnight for the porters to take it away as sadly today was the last day!!!!

But I will return.......in less than two weeks.

With Andy, Sarah, Celia, Crackers and Tim!!!!!   Yahhhh

We had another fun night with nocturnal visitors.  At about midnight the bell rang a few times.

Then a sweet little knock...so I let Trevor/Keith in. We had ordered him a Key Lime Pie that he came to eat it. It really was fun watching him jump on Suzanne's bed to make sure that she really had woken up.  Final Point to Trevor/Keith!!!!!!  I did laugh a lot!

Friday 11th September (Sydney)

Woke up as we were coming in through Sydney Heads but it was way to early to see so went back to sleep.

Breakfast in Chops (for the Sweet Suite people) and goodbyes.

Juan Diego was exhausted from carrying 120 items of luggage for the royal family. Said he carried them all on his back and felt like a camel. Then he had to go, as he had to escort them to their hotel! He had been in constant contact with the hotel - booking extra rooms etc for the luggage.  They had spent over $110,000 (at last count) with the Royal Caribbean so I suppose they didn't mind sending JD out).  Many of their costs were in cancellations. "Please book us massages for 10am"...."Oh, we on't want to go now".

When the Captain announced that we would be hitting rough seas after Tahiti, she (Mona, the Princess) asked JD to organise a charter plane to come and get them!!!!!!  He talked them out of it.  Ha.

It was then goodbye to the Radiance. Into the hire car and home.

sad face

Well not really goodbye - just "see you next week" cause have i mentioned that.....

I AM GOING CRUISING NEXT WEEK!!!!

Circumnavigating Australia with Andy, Sarah and the Lehany's!!!!

YAHHHHHHHHH
